Imaging and Design for Online Environment

Today, I'm going to summarize Lesson 6



What is the most visited website in the world? 
Alexa.com a renowned website for ranking web page popularity ranks this website number in the world- it is Google. The site's mission statement is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." 




Basic Principles of Graphics and Layout


1. Balance. The visual weight of objects, texture, colors, and space is evenly distributed on the screen.

2. Emphasis. An area in the design that may appear different in size, texture, shape or color to attract the viewer's attention.

3. Movement. Visual elements guide the viewer's eyes around the screen.

4. Pattern, Repetition, and Rhytym. These are the repeating visual element on an image or layout to create unity in the layout or image. Rhytym is achieved when visual element create a sense of organized movement.

5. Proportion. Visual elements create a sense of unity where they relate well with one another.

6. Variety.  This uses several design elements how to draw a viewer's attention.



Infographics

Do you have any idea of what Infographics mean?
Infographics are visual representations of data and information. In some ways, any chart or diagram could be labeled an infographic. A map and a weather forecast are both types of infographics.

Some Reasons to Use Infographics

  • It's a better way to tell stories
  • It's a better way to receive stories
  • It's a better way to reach maximum coverage and attract traffic
  • It's a better way to stay visible for a longer time


5 Main elements for a good looking infographic

1. Branding. Any infographic coming on the market from within the company, i.e., from your brand, needs to be branded.

2. Story. Tell a story that isn't about you but your audience.

3. Data & Stats. Data is being created every minute of every day without us even noticing it.

4. Shareability. Make sure your infographic is EASY TO SHARE by providing an embed code.

5. Resources. Let your audience know where you got the insights from.
